Welcome to the Summer Engineering Instutute Website.
This is a bridge program conducted by San Francisco State University's MESA Engineering Program jointly with Caņada College and CalTrans
The Summer Engineering Institute is a two-week residential program at the San Francisco State University campus, where participants will be provided with real-world context to the study of engineering through practical, meaningful, applied and hands-on problem solving and design-oriented projects.
Participants will engage in studies of mathematics, surveying, computer-aided design, and basic fundamentals of engineering. Daily activities will include classroom instruction, group and individual study, guest speakers, company tours, and recreational activities.
The participants will be divided into groups and each group will be responsible for completing an engineering project. All materials and instructions will be provided. Participants will present their final engineering project in written and oral form to an Evaluation Committee. Awards recognizing student efforts will be presented at the Institute's Closing Ceremonies.
